Ken Baron, PhD

Founder, Baron Mentors

Kenneth Craig Baron, PhD, is a nationally recognized leader in academic advising, student success, and pre-professional program development. His career began with a decade of progressive leadership at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he directed large-scale advising services, strengthened health professions advising, and helped establish nationally recognized academic planning and experiential learning initiatives. He then advanced to Emory University, overseeing pre-professional advising for students preparing for careers in the health professions and law, while expanding partnerships with professional schools nationwide. Dr. Baron later served in senior academic and student affairs leadership roles at the American InterContinental University - London (Regents University), guiding strategic initiatives across domestic and international campuses.

He currently serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Advising and Student Success at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where he leads campus-wide advising operations, major academic policy initiatives, and high-impact retention strategies. Dr. Baron is also an educational consultant with Baron Mentors and a former Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar at the University of Surrey, UK, who has been recognized with multiple awards for excellence in student success and advising leadership.
